Zahi Lawand is Mindshare UAE’s agency lead with more than 11 years of experience in the media and communication industry, working on key categories ranging from banking, technology, telco, FMCG and retail businesses. Through his career, he has won multiple awards and managed to transform and introduce many clients to data and tech lead solutions that deliver real-time ROI.

He has launched many firsts, especially in the areas of content, technology and data. Lawand is an active member of the industry through his participation as a speaker in multiple media and marketing forums, in addition to being a member of the panel for the Kantar Master Class forums and an active member of the IAB (International Advertising Board).

What’s the best advice you have received in

your career?

If you don’t ask you won’t get it; it’s never easy.

What’s the best advice you have given in your career?

Always put yourself first; if you’re not happy, no one around you will be.

What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing our clients’ business grow and how our work directly contributed to their success. In this chapter of our industry, media accountability and media ROI are at the forefront of what we do with our clients and this is what keeps me up at night and what is most rewarding about my job.

What’s the most frustrating thing about your job?

I am very aware of where I invest my time and energy and getting into situations that feel like a waste of time or wasted energy is frustrating – at work and in my personal life.

If not this, what would you be doing?

I would be in the gaming industry, working in a virtual world of my own.

If you had ten million dollars, what would you do?

Invest them in startups that built their business around the gig economy.

Finally, why are you (still) in this industry?

This is the most exciting time for our industry. Whilst our ability to understand and react to change is slowing down significantly, we have transformed our business and our people to keep up with the change; we have rewired and rebooted everything we do to be at the forefront of creativity, data and technology.
