What’s the best advice you have received in your career?

Very early in my career, my direct manager gave me advice that I hold near and dear: in order to move up the ladder, you need to be ambitious and push upwards, but also, and maybe more importantly, pull from below. Empower your teams, and success will come more effortlessly.

What’s the best advice you have given in your career?

Enthusiasm and positivity are contagious and a smile goes a long way. If you are excited and passionate about ideas, you’ll find clients will buy into them a lot faster – and are a lot more likely to want to work with you. When it feels right, and you truly believe in an idea, show it: shout it from the roofs.

What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?

Every day is an opportunity for something new. A new brief. A new media. A new industry. A new client. Coffee, cars or creams… your mind is endlessly challenged to learn and grow.

What’s the most frustrating thing about your job?

When I am faced with problems outside my powers: economic downturns, budget cuts, a cancelled product launch. It can be frustrating to accept, turn the page and start fresh.

If not this, what would you be doing?

Lawyer. According to my dad, no one can win an argument against me.

If you had ten million dollars, what would you do?

Boutique bed & breakfast on an island.

Finally, why are you (still) in this industry?

It still fascinates and excites me… and I don’t yet have 10 million dollars.
