The 11th edition of the MENA Effie Awards took place on November 6 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, organized by Mediaquest (Communicate‘s parent company).
The evening brought together the regional advertising and marketing industries once more. 2,000 professionals from the agency and the client sides gathered in celebration of the best and most efficient marketing campaigns of the year. And what a year it has been…
Indeed, the 2019 crop of winners, selected from 288 shortlisted entries across 35 categories, was an impressive mix of independent agencies and major networks; international brands and regional players; fresh trailblazers and well-established institutions.
Significantly, the most awarded brands – Saudi Telecom Company and Emirates NBD, with six awards each – are both regional powerhouses, an impressive demonstration of the Gulf’s steady march towards the future.
A total of 24 Golds, 45 Silvers and 40Bronzes were awarded throughout the night, but the highlights of the event were, naturally, the coveted special prizes.
So, without further ado, here are the big winners of the MENA Effie Awards 2019:
Grand Prix: “The Roaming Puppet” campaign by J.Walter Thompson for Saudi Telecom Company. J.Walter Thompson and STC grabbed six other awards (three Gold, two Silver and one Bronze) working together.
Most Effective Advertising Agency Office and Most Effective Agency Network of the Year: FP7 McCann Dubai and FP7 McCann respectively, retaining their crowns from the previous years. The network collectively won an overwhelming 44 awards throughout the night, including 9 Gold, 19 Silver and 16 Bronze trophies.
Most Effective Media Agency Office of the Year: PHD Dubai and UM Saudi Arabia in a rare tie.
SME Recognition Award: The Lighthouse Centre for Wellbeing for “unspoken, uae”, that was also awarded a Silver in the Small Budgets: Services category.
Marketer of the Year: Ms. Ozge Zoralioglu, CMO, YUM! Brands KFC
