This year’s results at the Effie MENA proved that effectiveness runs deep at OMD, with the network winning seven awards – the most for any media network – for seven different clients. In total, three offices walked away with a trophy.
OMD received Gold for its work for Marico and Vodafone Egypt, Silver for PepsiCo and Flower Town, and Bronze for Sephora, McDonald’s and LBCI, making it the most awarded media agency and the third most awarded overall. Its Cairo office received three trophies, including two gold, while its Dubai and Beirut offices walked away with two awards each.
With a 70 percent jump in entries over the previous year and close to 400 entries shortlisted, the sixth edition of the Effie MENA was highly competitive. By the end of the ceremony, attended by 1500 guests, 16 gold trophies, 21 silver and 30 bronze trophies were awarded.
“The Effie MENA awards mean a lot to us because they mean a lot to our clients, in that they salute marketing effectiveness, results and performance. This is precisely what clients expect from us,” commented Elie Khouri, CEO of Omnicom Media Group MENA and acting CEO of OMD MENA in a press statement. “We are particularly proud to see such a wide distribution of accolades as it demonstrates that the quest for effectiveness is a common trait across our teams and the fruit of collaborative work with our partners. Ideas by themselves serve little purpose, which is why we make ideas that work a priority. I congratulate all our winning teams and clients for this result and look forward to them enjoying an even stronger performance not just in awards competitions but in the market, every day,” he concludes.
