PR industry converges at In2 Innovation Summit & PRCA MENA Awards

February 13, 2019 marked an important date for the regional PR industry, as the Renaissance Downtown Hotel Dubai played host to The Holmes Report’s In2 Innovation Summit MENA and the PRCA MENA Awards.

The former, which was organized by The Holmes Report, featured panels uniting UAE-based thought leaders representing PR firms with a diverse group of experts from the press (Faisal Abbas of Arab News), NGOs (Noha Hefny of UN Women), government (Taif Mohammad Al Amiri of the UAE MoCCAE) and FMCGs (Vivian Nasamu-Odior of Johnson & Johnson).

Along with discussions between communications professionals regarding the state of the PR industry, new regional research from the MENA division of global market research firm YouGov was shared with attendees of the PRCA MENA Awards.

And the winner is…

Later in the evening, a jury composed of Holmes Report CEO Arun Sundhaman, PRCA Egypt Chairman Mohammed El Batta and 32 other Communications professionals revealed the results of their votes for the PRCA MENA Awards, which was hosted by Dubai One news anchor Katie Fielder.

Nearly three years after the March 2016 launch of PRCA’s MENA chapter led by Founding Chairman Loretta Ahmed, who also served as the first President of the Middle East chapter of the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO), the 2019 PRCA MENA Awards was held soon after the appointment of Ahmed’s PRCA and ICCO MENA successor Omar Qirem and celebrated dynamic communications campaigns from international and boutique firms as well as in-house teams.

Although most of the winners and highly commended campaigns that finished second place were launched in the GCC, a campaign in Algeria led by TBWA\ DJAZ notably stood out as the sole PRCA MENA Award winner from the Maghreb region.
