MCN has announced the appointment of new CEOs for two MediaBrands agencies, UM and Magna.

At UM, Joe Nicolas has been named CEO for the MENAT region.

Nicolas has been with UM for over nine years, starting as the regional head of research, and then as head of strategy. In 2013, he was named head of products where he drove the rollout and integration of UM’s product offerings of social, digital, branded content, technology and creative solutions before being made regional managing director in 2017.

Shadi Kandil, CEO MediaBrands MENAT says in a statement, “Joe’s experience and contribution in making UM a leading agency and his authentic team player attitude makes him an extraordinary leader, well-positioned to take UM into its next phase of development”.

“Having gone through a series of transformative moves during the last year, our next challenge is to build on a strong momentum and a determination to continue the mandate of change. I’m excited to continue being part of an incredible team and working close with all of our clients to unlock the potential of this region,” adds Nicolas.

At Magna, Bassem Massoud has been named CEO for the MENA region.

With 17 years’ experience in various leadership positions, Massoud has been the regional managing director at Magna for the past 10 years. Before joining Magna, he worked with brands including Proctor & Gamble, Mars, GSK, Nakheel, and Al Marai.

His current client portfolio at Magna includes Unilever, Dubai Properties, Mercedes and Subway.

“Bassem is an exemplary, roll-up-the-sleeves leader who is passionate about building long-term client relationships. His strategic grasp of the communication process and his advocacy for building a strong team with diverse capabilities, puts him at the right place to lead Magna forward in its journey for growth and transformation,” says Kandil.

“I am very excited about this assignment and the interesting opportunities it presents to us. I look forward to continue building on the great work the whole Magna team is doing to participate in our clients’ success and growth,” adds Massoud.
