Choueiri Group renewed its Title Sponsorship of the Dubai Corporate Games for the 7th consecutive year, as the 9th edition of the premier corporate sporting event took place over the weekend of March 14- 15, 2014.
The American University in Dubai (AUD) campus featured prominently once again as the primary venue for the event, with its prime sports facilities catering to the majority of the participating teams and athletes.
The event provided a unique opportunity for the corporate community to compete in a fun-filled multi-sport event, while promoting wellness and a healthier lifestyle. The Games welcomed a record breaking number of participating teams and athletes in 2014, and hosted a greater number of tournaments than ever before, spanning a wider spectrum of sports. Kart racing served as the latest addition to the other sports which included golf, dragon boat racing, cricket, badminton, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, table tennis, swimming, running, tug of war, backgammon, PlayStation and baby foot.
Choueiri Group teams and athletes ensured that the group’s presence was felt across all the major tournaments. The group’s standout dedicated lounge and hospitality area welcomed friends, family-members, fans and supporters throughout the weekend, all the way up till the weekend’s concluding awards ceremony. In addition, a mini-pitch was also set up this year to host a variety of supervised sporting activities especially designed for kids (from toddlers to 16 year-olds).
At the awards podium, Choueiri Group stepped up to collect the following honors: number 1 for Men’s Tennis Single went to ace tennis player Patrick Chucri, who not only defended his title victory running streak for the past 2 years, but also brought up his total of number 1 Men’s Tennis Singles wins at the Dubai Corporate Games to four. Omar Moukachar collected the number 1 honors in the highly contested backgammon championship and the kart racing competition witnessed Choueiri Group making a complete clean sweep of the awards podium, with Omar Moukachar winning first place, Maged Traboulsy winning second place and Julien Anaty placing in third.
Choueiri Group’s Chairman and CEO, Pierre Choueiri, who attended the event on both days with his teams and athletes, expressed his appreciation for the Games and their true meaning by stating: “We have continued with our title sponsorship of the Dubai Corporate Games because this event shares and promotes the values which we represent at Choueiri Group. We are genuinely excited that the popularity of the Dubai Corporate Games has increased with so many new entrants coming out this year.”
